Neta Kleine is a PhD candidate in Comparative Literature. Her dissertation focuses on Anglo-American and Russian modernists—primarily Mina Loy, Marianne Moore, Viktor Shklovsky, and Marina Tsvetaeva—who seek to manipulate consciousness through sound. In her analysis of Loy, Neta examines how the writer’s Jewish heritage informs her argument that racial and linguistic hybridity can generate a heightened state of perception. Neta’s broader interests include representations of the agonized, racialized, or otherwise defamiliarized body, particularly in relation to contemporary reading methodologies, poetic form, and translation. She holds an MA in Foreign Literatures from Ben-Gurion University.
